Digging in the Dirt
I started a new project today. The Brick City Urban Farm is bringing urban agriculture to a lot at the corner of Spruce and Washington in downtown Newark. This is the second season for the group. Last year Newarkers and others were able to eat local produce all summer and into the fall. I'm going to check in with them every few weeks and see what's growing on.

Inauguration Day
I worked for Getty Images as part of a team of photographers covering the inauguration of Barack Obama. It was a really long and beautiful day. The cold weather added to the breathlessness that seemed to pervade the city. I got to prowl around the Mall, from monument to monument to monument. People were shouting, crying, slapping each other on the back.

I love this guy...
I covered some of Barack Obama's campaign in Pennsylvania. One of the days included his speech on race at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. This moment is from the end of the speech. It was plain-speaking but impactful. Emotional and concise. All kinds of yin and yang. Black and white. I think I saw the flags stir a little from the applause...or it could have been a little fresh air.
